The Well Man screen includes a full history and risk analysis, complete physical examination and a comprehensive range of blood tests and urine analysis. Tests include a full blood count to test for white cell, red cell and platelet abnormalities and tests for anaemia including ferritin, vitamin B12 and folate levels; biochemical profile of kidney, liver, bone metabolism, uric acid for gout, CK test for muscle enzymes, thyroid function and prostate specific antigen testing (screen for prostatic cancer in men)
As one the biggest causes of premature death in men is heart disease, we also encourage regular cholesterol checks and can advise on diet and lifestyle and when appropriate an ECG (electrocardiograph testing) can be performed
Sexual health advice and screening is another service we offer. STI (sexually transmitted infections) screening is done at both surgeries. This includes Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia, Herpes, Genital Warts testing.
All STIs are treated by the doctors in both clinics with the strictest confidentiality.
