Cosmetic Treatment of Facial Lines
This service is available at 183 Lower Rathmines Road, t: 01 4974747
Dr Dermot Rafter has many years of experience and has been trained by a consultant dermatologist who has a special interest in cosmetic treatments.
Facial lines associated with sun damage or ageing can be treated in 2 ways in the surgery.
A small amount of purified botulinum toxin (BOTOX) can be injected under the skin (using a fine needle) into the muscle causing relaxation of the muscle and disappearance of the overlying wrinkle. This is particularly suitable for horizontal forehead lines, crow's feet, and lines beneath the eyes.
The second method involves using filler called Restalin which can be injected into the wrinkle directly. It lifts and fills the wrinkles and in doing so makes them disappear. It is especially useful for treating the area between the eyebrows and around the mouth.
Both of these methods take effect within 2-6 days and can last for up to 4 months or longer. At that time treatment should be repeated.
Side effects and complications are rare.
For a free consultation please make an appointment with the receptionist.

Cosmetic treatment of sun damaged skin using cryotherapy is performed by both doctors in both surgeries.
